Daryl Ritchison is currently the Assistant State Climatologist for North Dakota.  He spends his time on climate research, development and enhancement of tools for NDAWN, the North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network a network of 77 weather stations located throughout North Dakota, eastern Montana and western Minnesota, presents short and long term forecasts on the NDAWN blog and is a well known public speaker on various topics. Previous to his current position he worked for nearly 25 years as a meteorologist at various midwestern television stations including WDAY-TV and WDAZ-TV and WDAY-AM.


Throughout his career he has spoken to hundreds of groups on weather, climate, weather risk management, public relations, serving as Master’s of Ceremonies and giving motivational talks.  You will find him numerous times each month speaking throughout eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota. 


As a former Junior High Science teacher, Daryl continues his role as an educator as an occasional Adjunct Faculty member for the local universities, serves as a mentor for the American Meteorological Society’s K-12 Educational Initiatives.  He has helped produce Geographic Information System educational videos via a grant obtain by the University of Minnesota as well as assisted in Adventure Learning videos.  He has also produced a video for CoCoRaHS, the Community Collaborative, Rain, Hail and Snow Network.
